Each day for two months at low tide I went down to measure their positions on the rocks. As interesting to me as their behavior, was my own. One cold, windy, rainy day while almost getting blown off the slippery rocks (insisting to myself that I make accurate measurements) I paused to question just what in the world I was doing. I mean, there can’t be five people in the whole world who might care in the least what the limpets in southern Chile are doing. The question triggered some interesting insights about science.
