	Boat in Stormy Weather

Waking up to the flipped boat was one of the darker moments of the year. After that I cleared the beach of rocks and always pulled the boat up above high tide. After being flooded in salt water, neither outboard motor was reliable. I managed to keep them running, but each time I left the island to gather firewood, go exploring, or go fishing, I wondered whether I would make it back.
